Earlier this morning, Zach Lowe, an NBA writer for Grantland, posted the following tweet indicating the Denver Nuggets are getting serious about signing Kenneth Faried to a contract extension:
That’s big for two reasons. First, it likely means the Nuggets are officially out of the running for disgruntled Minnesota star Kevin Love, since a deal to bring Love to Denver would likely mean moving Faried one way or another. And second, it means Manimal hopefully will wear a Denver uniform for the foreseeable future. While he may never ascend to the superstar level to which he aspires, Faried is an amazing talent and last season emerged as Denver’s most valuable player. His high-energy style of play and outstanding reputation off the court has made him a fan-favorite in Denver, and it sounds like Tim Connelly and the rest of the front office want to reward him for his efforts and assure Faried that he is part of the franchise’s plans moving forward.
