Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw is entering his second season with the team, and right out of the gate one of the factors he and his staff will be focusing on during training camp is building the team’s confidence. During a recent media scrum following Day 3 of training camp, coach Shaw shared some of his thoughts on how to create confidence with this year’s team, the value of building on some of the strides the team made last year, and what increased confidence could mean for their season.
Here are some highlights from the seven-minute interview shared by the Denver Nuggets’ official YouTube channel:
"“I see a lot more confidence in our guys in terms of when we do make calls and do things…they can recall it, what they retained from last year.”“Everything we do is with a purpose. Just trying to instill in them that everything we do, there’s a purpose behind it. We’re trying to…get them to understand what their job is that particular play and be able to execute it.”"
Count me among the fans who are eager and more than a little bit anxious to see what Brian Shaw can get out of the team this year. I know there was a lot of adversity to overcome last year, and it was his first year with the team, but at times it felt like the players weren’t entirely in sync with their new coach. Here’s hoping that things click this year and the team gets off to a fast start.
