A lot of fans were surprised when Alonzo Gee made the Denver Nuggets’ final roster. Gee, a University of Alabama alum, has played for five different teams (including the Nuggets) since entering the league during the 2009-10 season. Gee showed his defensive prowess in the Nuggets home opener against the Detroit Pistons, and tonight, during the game against the Sacramento Kings, Gee showed fans he can make some noise with the ball in his hands as well.

Gee squared up like he was going to throw up a long jumper, drawing DeMarcus Cousins out of the paint. As Cousins approached, Gee blew by him and attacked the basket, throwing down the strong slam over Ben McLemore:

Gee is a classic role player, but plays like this will ensure he sees the floor for the Nuggets consistently this season. Add in the fact that Gee has shown he can be an asset on the defensive end of the floor, too, and it’s quickly becoming obvious why head coach Brian Shaw and General  Manager Tim Connelly chose to keep him around this season.
