Following a disappointing home loss to the Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw addressed the media and shared his thoughts about his team’s performance. As you can imagine, Shaw wasn’t too pleased with what he saw on the court.

Shaw points out that the 47 free throws handed to the Kings is simply unacceptable, saying a lot of it can be chalked up to players being out of position and taking bad angles on closeouts, leading to needless fouls that ultimately cost Denver the game. The coach also specifically mentioned the fact that he was hoping to see more production from Ty Lawson after encouraging him to be more aggressive, but the speedy point guard finished with just 8 total shots.

Shaw said he’s not as worried about the offense, since the team seems to be doing the things they need to do to get open shots, it’s just that the shots aren’t falling right now. He said he hopes the team is getting the poor shooting out of their system now so they can get to a point where they are knocking down shots on a more consistent basis.

All in all, Shaw seems to be looking to highlight the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives. That’s probably the right approach at this point in the season, but if the Nuggets continue to struggle, these post game pressers are going to become more and more uncomfortable as the season wears on.
