The Denver Nuggets are looking to kick their rebuild into overdrive, not only in terms of record, but by building and fostering a good environment. A key to building a good culture is veteran leadership, and Jameer Nelson seems to have accepted this position.

According to BSN Denver, Nuggets GM Tim Connelly was on Mile High Sports Radio. Connelly discussed how Nelson was forging a bond with his teammates through the offseason:
"“Next week Jameer on his own dime is flying all of our players that aren’t participating in the European championships to Philadelphia to work out for one week and he pays for everything,” Connelly said. “Every day they have a different activity, one night it might be a Phillies game another day it might be paintballing. He’s a unique guy in that regard that he embraces it and I think his impact will be huge on the court. But to have a guy do that on his own accord out of his own checkbook is pretty impressive and kind of speaks to what type of person he is.”"
Here’s a look at the recreational activities the team is getting up to, thanks to Nelson himself.
Nelson is clearly buying into this ‘veteran leader’ role, and its great. Its a sign that he’ll be a great mentor for up and coming guard Emmanuel Mudiay over the next few years as well.
