#4 – 1997 NBA Draft- Tony Battie– Drafted #5

Tony Battie had a long NBA career; he played 15 years, but his potential stayed undeveloped. Battie’s best season was his rookie season with the Nuggets in which he averaged 8.6 points per game. Battie ended up playing for three other NBA teams, and he never averaged more than 10 points per game.

Tracy McGrady

Tracy McGrady was taken four picks after Tony Battie in this draft. Here is Tracy dropping 13 points in under 35 seconds to shock the Spurs.

That is one of the best streaks of scoring the NBA had ever seen. McGrady was a dominate threat in Toronto, Orlando, and Houston. The 7X All-Star, 7X All-NBA team member, and the 2X scoring champion was a monster in his 16 year NBA tenure.

McGrady averaged 32.1 points per game during the 02-03 year. Only Kobe and Allen Iverson have averaged more points in one season since he received that award in 02-03. Just for some youths sake, McGrady averaged two more points than Stephen Curry did this year.

The Nuggets truly missed out on of the NBA’s gems.
