Out of this offseason’s unprecedented free-agency period, the Denver Nuggets managed to get the steal of free agency so far by re-signing Darrell Arthur.
Everyone expected this year’s free-agency period to get a little wacky with an unprecedented increase in salary cap. The league’s salary cap expanded from $70 million to $94 million this offseason and this year’s cap floor is higher than last year’s salary cap. This offseason doesn’t feature enough quality free agents available to appropriately absorb all the money being thrown around.
As a result, many of the available players are receiving ludicrous contracts. Fortunately for our Denver Nuggets, the front office was able to re-sign forward Darrell Arthur to a very team-friendly deal – the steal of free agency so far.
According to multiple sources, including The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Darrell Arthur will be returning to the Denver Nuggets next season:
Arthur has entrenched himself in Denver’s lineup over the last three seasons. The 6’9″ forward has been a solid addition to Denver’s bench ever since he arrived from Memphis. Head coach Mike Malone seems to trust D.A. and he’ll continue to bring a professional attitude and veteran leadership to a very young squad for a few more years.

Wojnarowski also tweeted out the details of Arthur’s deal — and after seeing some of the deals signed on Friday — it has to be considered the steal of free agency to this point:
