The Denver Nuggets struggled in shooting last season, and as free agency has started, we will breakdown their renewed search.

Denver finished 27th in the NBA in three-point shooting, so unsurprisingly, last week’s draft night for the Nuggets can be summed up as a search for shooters. Denver used their first pick to snag debatably the best shooter in the draft, freshman shooting guard Jamal Murray. Next, they drafted a stretch-four who can shoot well from deep for his size (Juancho Hernangomez). And their last first round pick was another shooting guard with a great stroke from behind the arc (Malik Beasley).

Denver’s quest for three-point shooters doesn’t end there though. Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette has been working out in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and it’s rumored that he’s being considered for Denver’s summer league roster. Jimmer is one of college basketball’s best three-point shooters of all time (at least at the collegiate level).

The Nuggets management has made it very clear that if these potential new members of the Nuggets rotation want a job in Denver then their chance is now. Come to summer league/training camp and consistently knock down shots from deep.

The Nuggets organization desperately needs consistent three-point shooters, and whoever knocks down shots will play.

The Nuggets shooting guard position currently includes Gary Harris, Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Malik Beasley, Mike Miller, and potentially Jimmer Fredette. Some of these players will be on the summer league roster, so be sure to tune in and watch the three-point shoot-out that will undoubtedly take place.

This could be a big swing in the right direction for the Nuggets, and we will soon see how they handle their newcomers. Expect Murray to be eased into the rotation at first while Beasley has much, much more to prove before he will be able to achieve consistent minutes.
