Gary Harris

Despite drafting a pair of guards that could possibly fill Gary Harris‘ role in the Nuggets’ starting lineup, general manager Tim Connelly was adamant that the starting shooting guard position was Harris’ to lose during his post-draft press conference. We wrote about Connelly’s presser here.

Harris showed a vast improvement from his first year in the league to last season, in which he averaged 12.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Harris also stood out as one of the Nuggets’ better shooters, hitting 46 percent from the field overall and 35 percent from 3-point range.

Both Mudiay and Harris were invited to be a part of the 2016 USA Men’s Select Team, a team selected to train with the USA Basketball Men’s National Team in preparation for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

As an improving scorer and Denver’s premiere perimeter defender, I would be shocked if Harris does not remain in the starting lineup next season, as long as he remains healthy.
