Jameer Nelson

Originally drafted by the Nuggets in 2004 before being traded away, the 34-year old Jameer Nelson finally donned the baby blue and yellow late in the 2014-15 season when the Nuggets acquired the veteran’s services, from the Boston Celtics.

Nelson’s role with the team next year is largely dependent on whether he receives a reasonable amount of playing time. According to this report from Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post, Nelson desires to return to Denver as the backup point guard — a role he lost first to a wrist injury and then to D.J. Augustin — but he won’t hesitate to request a trade if there isn’t more playing time in his future.

Nelson’s leadership is a valuable presence on this very young roster, as he helped show Mudiay the ropes last year. However, if he is going to have a bad attitude about playing time, it may be time to find another veteran guard to help bring the youngsters along.
