Dirk Nowitzki

Dallas loves Dirk, and Dirk is about the most seemingly loyal franchise player in the NBA.  Last night, ESPN sources reported that the Dallas Mavericks have agreed upon a max deal with restricted free agent Harrison Barnes.  After losing Chandler Parsons in the free agency, it was the right move.

Don’t overthink the salary in this wild off-season, and they had to reach the cap floor anyways.  Even so, the Mavs are in that awkward place on the edge of playoff-hood in the deeper-than-ever Western Conference.

Any contender with some left over cap space would happily scoop up Nowitzki for a season to get that extra edge.  Will Nowitzki leave HIS franchise in an effort to get another ring in the final years of his basketball career?

Probably not. But, we wouldn’t count out the possibility.
