8. Mike Conley-Memphis Grizzlies, five-year $153 million

You might’ve thought Conley would be a little higher on the list, considering the no-time All-Star now has the richest contract in the history of sport.  Not on my list, Jack.  Really good players deserve a max contract under this new cap or you might just end up spending $16 million a year on an average player just to meet the cap floor (*hint, hint).

The small issue I have with this is; Memphis shouldn’t expect a ring anytime soon, and with Marc Gasol and Mike Conley sticking around AND adding Chandler Parsons for big money, a rebuild isn’t possible either.

It seems as though Memphis played themselves back into perennial playoff contenders without being championship contenders.
