#2: Trade for another star

After signing Wade, the Nuggets may look to be aggressive and obtain a win-now attitude. What’s a better way to win now than by trading for another star? The Nuggets have more than enough pieces to trade for almost any player they want. Two stars who currently make sense for the Nuggets to target are Paul Millsap and Russell Westbrook. While both of these guys become free agents after next year, the Nuggets must be sure that they can sign either one of them to a long-term deal.

Paul Millsap

The Trade:

Paul Millsap would be a perfect fit for the Nuggets and would compliment Wade well. Check out a previous article by  fellow Nugg Love writer Steven Leight on why the Nuggets should target Paul Millsap:

Russell Westbrook

The Trade:

This trade would make sense for both teams. With Durant’s departure, Westbrook is unlikely to sign a long-term deal with the Thunder and he becomes a free agent after next season. The Oklahoma City would be getting loads of young talent and a first-round pick to start their rebuild in this deal. The Nuggets would be giving up quite a lot but they are getting a superstar and one of the best players in the league in Westbrook.

If the Nuggets do end up signing Wade, they may be ultra-aggressive and target another star. This would put the Nuggets immediately in the playoff picture in the West. However, Denver can only target Millsap or Westbrook under one circumstance: They are positive that they can sign them to a long-term deal.
