The Denver Nuggets have had quite the eventful offseason, and now we take a look into their plan for the future!
The best thing Dwyane Wade could have done for the Denver Nuggets was to sign with the Chicago Bulls. He signified to the league, possibly as a leverage tactic, that the Nuggets are on the rise and are a few years away from contending. This uplifted the drought of national media attention the Nuggets have lacked since the final year of George Karl.
Younger players take note of that sort of thing. They value Dwyane Wade as a player, and if he’s considering playing for a team, the team must be on the cusp of something special.
For the Nuggets, Wade was a no win situation. If they didn’t go after him, they’d show fans that they weren’t serious about spending money to win. If they did sign him, he’d occupy time that should be allocated to a young, developing player. By being in the top 3 potential destinations, Denver was able to say everything it needed to to the league without having to pay an older star who plays a position that is well stocked.
