#2 “The Bosnian Beast” (Jusuf Nurkic)

The Bosnian Beast has drawn in some off-season attention. After dropping a reported 35 lbs, the 21 year-old center is hoping for a season of surprise, as he looks to come back from a progress-stunting knee issue in better form than ever.

Before his weight loss, the 7 foot center was logged in at 280 lbs, justifying his nickname with size alone. Trimming down may not have made Nurkic into a lightweight center, but he may need to up his game, particularly with rebounds and blocks, to maintain his reputation as “The Bosnian Beast”.

Nuggets and NBA fans alike wait curiously to see what the international big can bring to the table next season. If things go well, “The Bosnian Beast” could easily become a well-known name, like “The Polish Hammer” (Marcin Gortat).

Let’s face it, “The Bosnian Beast” is a killer nickname.
