Rio Olympics: Jokic, Serbia fall to Lauvergne, France in final minute
By Drew Albee
Both Serbia and France have two games remaining in group play, as both nations aim to advance to the quarterfinals of the Rio Olympics.
Serbia takes on the heavily favored United States at 4 p.m. (Mountain Time) on Friday and China at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. After losing to France Wednesday, Serbia’s chances against the U.S. can not be great, so they’ll need to defeat China to keep alive their hopes of advancing further in the tournament.

France, meanwhile, squares off against Venezuela at 7:30 p.m. on Friday before their date with the dominant — and still undefeated — United States at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. A win against lowly Venezuela will likely secure France a spot in the quarters, but the French must continue to play with focus on both ends — something they’ve struggled to do for stretches during their time in Rio.
Serbia currently sits at fourth-place in Group A, while France is right ahead of them in third. To take a look at group standings for the Rio Olympics, click here.
