Denver Nuggets Fantasy: Implications From Preseason Opener
By Tim Hart
Best Draft Option: Danilo Gallinari
Danilo did not have an amazing game against the Raptors. On the whole, his stats don’t look overly attractive, but he did only play 21 minutes.
In that time, he turned the ball over three times, and only managed to secure two rebounds and 2 assists. With his size and passing ability, higher rebounding and assists numbers are expected by many. He did manage to score though, which is his most important fantasy attribute.
Gallinari ended with 14 points, and got to do his favorite thing; he shot a lot of free throws. Gallo went 9/10 from the line, accompanied with his 2-4 FG%, and 1-2 3P%. Shooting well and getting to the line suggests a Gallinari in good rhythm.
Based on his performance, Gallo looks to be the most attractive fantasy option on the team, once again. When the season starts, and his minutes return to the thirties, Gallinari should be reliable for points and threes. With the confidence and rhythm displayed against the Raptors, his scoring abilities seem heightened. If he can stay healthy, Gallo looks lined up for a fantasy season that could rival that of, say, Carmelo Anthony‘s. His being on the Nuggets may keep Gallinari out of the first few rounds of most fantasy drafts, but DO NOT sleep on him. Its only been one preseason game, but Gallo is looking good.
