The Denver Nuggets will have to throw everything they have against Carmelo Anthony tonight.

The Denver Nuggets will host the New York Knicks tonight. Denver showed promise in their last against Portland, but it is vital to realize that the Knicks are much improved this season.

The Knicks are not just a pushover team like they have had the past 2 years. Being led by Carmelo Anthony, the former Nuggets superstar, the Knicks will come to the mile high with something to prove. The question is whether or not the Nuggets can contain Melo’s offensive firepower.

The answer is unfortunately no, Anthony will still put up his numbers. However, if Denver can lock down New York’s other weapons, then they will have a legitimate chance to win. Whoever guards Carmelo may be able to put up around 20 points considering Melo’s defensive woes.

However, Carmelo is so gifted at the mid-range game and getting to the rim, he will most likely put up the numbers to keep New York in ball game. Denver is one of the worst defensive teams in the league right now, so it is safe to assume that they will have a problem containing Carmelo Anthony.

I suspect Wilson Chandler, if they use the same small-ball lineup, will have a great game offensively, and do his best defensively to contain Melo.

Chandler is a great versatile defender, but even the best defenders have a difficult time guarding the dynamic Carmelo Anthony.

Unfortunately, while the Nuggets may win tonight, but Carmelo Anthony will have a drastic impact on the game.
