Denver Nuggets: Key Factors to Keep the Eighth Seed
By Blake Holmes
2. Nikola Jokic.
The Denver Nuggets have a star that as Stugotz would say, has grown up in our very eyes. Nikola Jokic is one of the best young players in the NBA, and he’s only getting better as the season continues.
Before this season, there hadn’t been a Nuggets player with a triple double in a good while. Well, that has gone by the wayside, as Jokic has put in three of the them this season. Per milehighsports, he is, in fact, the first Nuggets center to have three in a season since the legendary Dikembe Mutombo. That’s pretty good company for the Joker, as Mutombo is a member of the Hall of Fame.
He’s taken a leadership role with this young team, and the Nuggets have learned to run their offense through him. I mean, how could you not when he’s making plays like this?
He’s definitely a different type of NBA player and, the Nuggets will need his leadership and talent to take them to a playoff berth. I love the team’s chances if he can keep up his great play, and who knows? He could possibly get himself a fourth, maybe even a fifth triple double to add onto his already impressive resume.
