Our Denver Nuggets came into the Pepsi Center looking for a third straight victory when they hosted the New Orleans Pelicans, but ended up losing in a disappointing effort.

The Pepsi Center has never looked so full and so happy. The fans finally answered the players prayers to go and support them in this great playoff run they are having.

And what do they do? They came out flat.

I simply cannot remember a time when the Nuggets have look so bad as tonight’s game. After a quick 6 points from Nikola Jokic in the 1st quarter, the Nuggets were looking like they were going to beat a short-handed Pelicans team.

But after a while, Denver started struggling and finished the first with a 29-26 deficit. Not bad, right?

But it was worst from that point on, as Jokic started to force shots and give silly fouls. This team did not defend at all and the Pelicans took advantage of that as they outscored the Nuggets in 26-14 in the 2nd quarter to finish the first half with a score of 55-40.

From that point on, the fans just started to quit on the Nuggets and the Nuggets did not respond very well.

It is truly a heart breaker as the Nuggets were playing what was maybe the most important home game of the season and they managed to silence the crowd in a bad loss. The shots were not falling in. The defense was atrocious. And the Nuggets bench looked like someone died.

Do we need to point out the takeaways from this loss? I don’t think so. It was an all around lack of energy, and New Orleans fed off that, especially Anthony Davis.

Worst part of all? They NEEDED this win so they could keep moving ahead of the Portland Trailblazers who are right at their tails for that 8th spot.

Now, it is time to shake up this loss and look at the next game as the most important one of all. They go against the Trailblazers in what we can call “A match for the 8th spot” or (to make it more dramatic) “A clash of the titans”.

It sure is disappointing. And frustrating. But hopefully, the Nuggets can get back on track and forget about this loss.
