Emmanuel Mudiay has had an up and down career as a Nugget to say the least.

One of the most intensely heated topics of debate within Nuggets Nation is the subject of Emmanuel Mudiay.

The once thought of point guard of the future of the Denver Nuggets had a rough season this year. He eventually lost his starting job to the aging veteran, Jameer Nelson, and then logged many DNP’s. He was given some of his minutes back towards the end where he showed signs of promise, but the overall body of work so far has not been a pretty sight to behold.

Yes, he has finished both of his seasons in the NBA strongly, but the fact that it takes until the end for him to get some rhythm going is concerning. As a result, this can drastically hurt his trade value if the Nuggets do in fact try to move him. On the other hand, the Nuggets need to be wary of giving up on young players so quickly. This has burned this franchise multiple times in the past. They need to learn from their experiences with guys like Ian Clark and Nene.

If the Nuggets do decide to keep Mudiay and give him one more chance, he needs to have a breakout season. Anything less than mediocre will not be tolerated from Mudiay in his third year as a professional. Some fans are already throwing around the “B,” word (bust) to associate with him.

If he doesn’t improve significantly, their merits of this will be validated. Mudiay does have potential. No one is denying that. Whether he can utilize it in the way he needs to still remains to be seen however. If he does find a way to turn it around, then GM Tim Connelly has made another genius draft pick.
