Rudy Gay.

I know this isn’t the deal we all expect, but it may work on some level.

Denver Nuggets
Denver Nuggets /

Denver Nuggets

Why? Because the great Rudy Gay is a pure scoring machine and a great competitor. He’s frustrated in Sacramento and we all know that. And seeing both Rondo and Cousins leave, I’m sure he’s pretty much over with the dysfunctional franchise.

Rudy was averaging 18.7 PPG and 6.3 RPG while shooting 45% from the floor before he had a season ending injury.

Not bad for the 30 year old. He still has stamina written all over him. He can score. He can defend. And if put with the right team, he can be a great teammate.

Why not pull the trigger?

Sure, he will ask for more than 13M, as he’s looking to pull a Wesley Matthews alike…but we never know. I always saw Rudy in Denver. Maybe it won’t be that bad. After all, Connelly should explore all options available as this team is just one step away from being great.
