With the lottery approaching, many fans are wondering what pick the Nuggets will end up with.

The Denver Nuggets need to look at the bright side of missing this year’s playoffs. They need to look at it as an opportunity to pick up a talented player in this year’s loaded draft class.

According to bleacherreport.com, the Nuggets have a 0.6% chance of landing the number one pick in this year’s draft. In other words, do not expect to get the number one pick. Don’t expect a top three pick either as they are projected to only have a 2.2% chance at getting one of those.

That does not mean they still can’t draft a quality player though. There will be plenty of players in the first round who can make an instant impact for whatever team they are picked by.

If history is any indication, Denver will most likely have settle with a pick somewhere between seven and 14. Keep in mind that the Nuggets made significant improvement in the wins category this year compared to last, so it will be even more difficult for them to secure a top 10 pick. As of right now, I would guess that Denver will land the the 14th pick in this year’s draft.

Many are thinking they will be the 13th pick, but I am also looking at how poorly the lottery has treated the Nuggets. I expect history to repeat itself unfortunately and send Denver back a bit further.

However, a fan should not get discouraged by this. A guy like Justin Jackson, Jonathan Isaac, or O.G. Anunoby could fall into Denver’s lap. Each of these guys could end up being a steal for Denver if they are developed properly.

Bear in mind that Jokic was drafted in the second round as the 41st pick. This goes to show that a high draft pick doesn’t always mean everything.
