There is a good argument for Lowry not coming to Denver.
Kyle Lowry recently stated he will opt out of his contract this summer to become a free agent. As a result, there has been a ton of speculation about where he may end up.
Some are saying he will remain in Toronto, some say he will go to San Antonio and some even say he could end up in Denver. While this is an intriguing idea, there is actually a good case for why Lowry coming to the Mile High would be a bad idea for the Nuggets. While Kyle Lowry is a nice All Star, he could potentially harm the growth of Jamal Murray.

Denver Nuggets
Murray is developing at such a nice pace. With that being said, bringing in a 31 year old veteran for him to back up could slow his progression. Second of all, Lowry is 31 years old and giving a max contract to someone at that age with the youth Denver has at the point guard position is a little frightening.
This could handicap the Nuggets financially for the future especially if Lowry turns out to be a bad fit with this young core. Many things would have to happen for Denver in order for the Nuggets to dish out a max contract to the veteran point guard and still have flexibility for the future. Finally, Lowry’s production in the post season leaves something to be desired as well.
While he would certainly help the Nuggets get to the playoffs, if history is any indication, he would not help propel Denver any further. He missed much of the playoffs this year due to injury which should be a major red flag for the Nuggets. Lowry is a solid player, no one is denying that.
