This year’s draft is imperative for the future of the Denver Nuggets.

The Denver Nuggets will not have a top three draft pick, but they still need to take this draft seriously. As a matter of fact, this draft could determine whether they make the post season next year or if they miss it yet again.

Tim Connelly needs to bring in one more solid young piece to fit into this young core that has been cultivated in the Mile High city. If they miss on their lottery pick, it could spell trouble for the future of the Nuggets.

Why you ask? Because every team in the Northwest is going to be improved or at least competitive. The Timberwolves are going to keep growing, the Jazz proved they are a formidable playoff team, the Blazers will be competitive and as long as Russell Westbrook is in Oklahoma City, the Thunder will always be in the conversation for the playoffs.

This means that Denver needs a player who will benefit the Nuggets immediately and grow into someone who will buy into the plan for the future. There will be plenty of talent that will be in this year’s NBA draft. A wing presence like a Justin Jackson could be a good fit for the Nuggets if he is still available when the Nuggets time comes up on the clock.

Whatever Connelly does though, he must make sure he drafts someone who will help the Nuggets break that barrier barring them from the playoffs come next year.

Otherwise, this team could be in for some frustrating seasons to say the least.
