Teams must take Nuggets seriously next season

Even though the Nuggets missed the playoff this past year, they made it clear they will not be a team one can overlook next season.

The Denver Nuggets have rebuilt very nicely. The organization has been patient and the front office has not forced anything that could have disrupted the process.

As a result, they were extremely close to making it back to the post season last year. They still made progress from the year before and it was rewarded with an All-Star in free agency.

Paul Millsap will be Nikola Jokic’s new counterpart down low next season and will be a great star mentor not just for Jokic, but for the other young guys as well. With a dynamic star duo in Jokic and Millsap, other teams will not be able to take the Nuggets for granted anymore when the next season rolls around.

Even outside of the two star post players, Denver possesses a plethora of young talent. Gary Harris and Jamal Murray both have the potential to become stars soon as they continue to progress and develop. Not to mention, the Nuggets still have the likes of Wilson Chandler, Kenneth Faried and Juancho Hernangomez (provided the first two listed are not traded.)

Denver has a great arsenal of talent and the addition of Paul Millsap has only amplified the potential this young team has going forward. I am not saying this team will be able to compete with contenders like the Warriors and Cavaliers, but for the other playoff teams from the past year, they need to watch out for Denver.

This team has gone through the rebuilding process in the correct way and it is time for them to make the next step of returning to the playoffs. It would be a good experience for the young players and a player like Paul Millsap will be vital in a post season run.
