Way-too-early NBA Western Conference playoff predictions
By Blake Holmes
6. Denver Nuggets
Here’s where I think the Nuggets will be placed next season. I do believe that they have done enough in order to solidify a place in the playoffs. With the addition of Paul Millsap, the Nuggets will look to make the playoffs for the first time in five years.
Denver Nuggets Starting Lineup:
PG: Jamal Murray
SG: Gary Harris
SF: Wilson Chandler
PF: Paul Millsap
C: Nikola Jokic
Now the Nuggets could very well start Emmanuel Mudiay or Jameer Nelson at the point, but I’m sticking to my guns with Murray.
Nikola Jokic is coming off of a monstrous season, to where he was nominated for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award. We’ve all seen his prowess while moving the ball, and he’s got a great post game as well. While his defense needs some work, Jokic has solidified himself as one of the great young players in the league, and one of the best centers.
Paul Millsap was absolutely huge for the Nuggets in free agency. After two of their divisional opponents traded for All-Stars, they had to make a move, and that happened to be Millsap. He will fit nicely along Jokic to make a terrifying frontcourt, and it should be even more fun to watch.
The Nuggets did lose Danilo Gallinari, but Wilson Chandler has been a decent second-option. He’s always played pretty well off of the bench, and now he should get his time to shine. The Nuggets are deep with a brilliant offense and great bench, and that should be the key for this young squad.
It could be a fun season in the Mile High City, and the Nuggets are definitely a team to look out for.
