The match up to keep an eye on will be the Nuggets’ bench vs. the Kings’ bench.

The Denver Nuggets have several key pieces on their team and many of them thrive off the bench for the Denver second unit.

Players like Emmanuel Mudiay, Kenneth Faried and Mason Plumlee have lit a surge underneath the Nuggets many times this season. As a result, they will be a key aspect to pay attention to in this game against the Kings. The Kings have an intriguing bench as well which is rife with young talent with a blend of some veteran experience.

Guys like George Hill and Justin Jackson will be an interesting challenge for the Nuggets defense, especially matched up with guys like Will Barton and Juancho Hernangomez. Malik Beasley should also see some key minutes as well as the Nuggets will most likely be without their starting power forward in Paul Millsap.

As a result, many of the role players will get extended minutes to compensate for the veteran’s absence. The outcome of the game very well may come down to whose second unit has the better game give the Kings have been solid at home this season and have two key veterans in their starting rotation in Zach Randolph and Vince Carter. In the NBA, experience is key and Denver will need to exploit this aspect by going to their bench.

If the second unit can have a solid game against Sacramento’s bench, then the Nuggets’ chances will increase infinitely. However, they cannot sleep on the Kings as the Kings have shown some nice signs of progress this year.
