The back court of the Denver Nuggets has been one of the more overlooked stories within the Nuggets fan base.

Coming into the season, the big story every Denver fan was focused on was the new look front court for the Nuggets. With the addition of Paul Millsap, they paraded out what was one of the best post tandems in the entire league. However, Millsap eventually fell to injury and is still currently rehabbing from his wrist surgery.

What many forget during this time is the back court of Denver has been brewing up something spectacular of their own. Gary Harris and Jamal Murray are quickly becoming one of the most exciting and young back court duos in the league.

Murray shifted to the point guard spot this year as the Nuggets had a glaring hole at this position last season. Emmanuel Mudiay shifted to the bench and so far, it has been for the best. Jamal had a great December as he averaged 19.1 points per game, a true shooting percentage of 60.8%, an offensive rating of 118 and a plus/minus of +8.1 per basketball-reference.com. Murray has slowly been getting better as the season has gone along which is rather reminiscent of his solid rookie season.

Harris on the other hand, has been living up well above his $84 million contract extension so far and even has some saying he has been the best player on the entire team this season. He is continually improving his game and it also coming off a hot 36 point performance where he shot 82% in the win over the Suns.

With these two playing great basketball as of late, it may be time to starting paying more attention to Denver’s back court than their front court which is still without Paul Millsap for the time being.

Regardless, Gary Harris and Jamal Murray will be a fun back court to watch for hopefully, many years to come in Denver.
