Nuggets: Harris and Jokic snubbed from All Star Game
By Mathew Huff
The Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Gary Harris were snubbed for the NBA All Star Game.
Another All Star Game is coming up and we have yet another season where the Nuggets have no one selected to the All Star Game. While it is understandable in the recent past why Denver has not had any All Stars, this season is a different story.
First of all, let’s take a look at the West All Stars who were selected. For the starters, we have Steph Curry, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant. The reserves are Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Russell Westbrook, Draymond Green, Lamarcus Aldridge and Karl Anthony Towns.
While a lot of these players are very deserving, it is a little odd to see some names with worse stats than Harris and Jokic this season get in (looking at you Draymond Green.)
Other notable omissions included Paul George and Carmelo Anthony from the Thunder, one of which is a former Nugget. As Russell Westbrook stated, “you have four guys from one team on there.” I can see Klay Thompson, but Green is a little bit of a head scratcher and makes you raise an eyebrow despite him having a solid season.
LaMarcus Aldridge is another controversial selection where you can see both sides of the argument for his selection.
Nikola Jokic has been a bit inconsistent this year, so you can see the argument for keeping him off the team. Harris on the other hand, is one of the most efficient shooting guards in the league and is actually on par with Klay Thompson and Damian Lillard in a lot of categories this season.
While the West is extremely loaded this year, it is extremely frustrating for Nuggets fans to see their deserving players be overlooked year after year.

All we can hope for now is that Harris and Jokic’s time will eventually come and the rest of the league will soon give them the credit they deserve.
