Millsap and Plumlee will bolster an unsteady defense, let’s be honest, the Nuggets only need middling defense to have massive success, their offensive ceiling may be as high as any in the league.

Ranking the best young cores in the NBA

HoopsHype gives us the above ranking of the best young cores in the NBA.  The Nuggets placed 6th.  A travesty, in my opinion.  The League will always love the Lakers, so I guess them at 4 is understandable.  I can’t really argue with Boston or Minnesota, they have some dangerous, young talent.  Philly has a stud in Ben Simmons and possible Unicorn in Joel Embiid.  Embiid is going to have to prove he can stay healthy before I’m ready to sign off on him.

The schedule is (mostly) favorable, the players are rounding into form, reinforcements are inbound and the City of Denver is rising up behind this young thrill-ride of a team.  Here’s my prediction:

Nuggets finish 5th in the West and take on a struggling San Antonio squad in the first round.

Other first round results:

Houston over Portland

Golden State over Utah

OKC over Minnesota

Second Round:

Golden State over Denver

Houston over OKC

As much as I would have like to have typed the Nuggets on into the Championship, more time is needed.  Talent-wise they may be right there but there are coaching concerns and it does take time to cultivate a championship pedigree, particularly with fickle NBA officials.

Whichever way the last 24 turn, one thing is for certain, it will be entertaining!
