The Nuggets are celebrating their 50th anniversary this season.  There have been big names, stars, draft busts and everything in-between over the last 50 years.

Today and over the next week, we’ll be looking at some of the unsung heroes of the Nuggets roster.

We know and love:  Alex English, Dan Issel, Lafayette “Fat” Lever, Dikembe Mutombo, David Thompson.  High draft-pick, high-profile players that have led the Nuggets over the years, their time in Denver is well-known, well-documented.  Our own Mathew Huff has done some great work recently detailing the stories of Lever and English.

Every Nuggets era has those players that don’t put up big stats.  They don’t go to all-star games or make Sports Center highlight reels.  What these players do is ingratiate themselves to a Nuggets fan base that always supports big effort or big personality guys.

Today, we’ll look at the first three guys we just loved when they were patrolling the Can or Big Mac:
