The Denver Nuggets, Rodney Rogers, was the ninth pick in the 1993 NBA draft by the Nuggets.

He came to the Nuggets with a spectacular pedigree as the reigning ACC player-of-the-year from Wake Forest (where his number 54 has been retired). At six-foot-seven and 235 pounds, Rogers was a small forward in a power forward’s body.  Though he only played two seasons in Denver, Rogers time was memorable.

Rogers hit three 3-point shots for nine points against the Utah Jazz in 8-seconds in a 1994 game.  True to the mid-90’s Nuggets, after taking the lead on Rogers’ third shot, the Nuggets failed to get back and let the Jazz run out for an easy bucket to lose by one.

Still, Rodney’s toughness and those eight seconds will live forever in Nuggets lore.

Rogers was in a dirt bike accident in 2008 and is paralyzed from the shoulders down.
