“Ill” Will Chandler – B+

Wilson seems to be one of those guys that take trade rumors personally.

I don’t blame him, he’s been loyal to a Nuggets franchise that’s not always treated him like an integral part of the team.  Wilson, in my opinion is Paul Millsap in a small-forward body.  Similar build, similar inside, mid-range and outside games.

Wilson struggled until the trade deadline, it seems he’s put that behind him and has been a solid contributor now for six-weeks.

His numbers last night: 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and a block in 29 minutes of action.  Most remarkable about his contribution was his 71.4% (5-for-7) from deep.  Wilson is a deceptively good three-point shooter.  He doesn’t require much space and seems to be comfortable late in the shot-clock with getting his shot.

He’s become adept at diving to the basket and letting Nikola find him for easy looks.  He’s the perfect “teammate” for this young squad.

Wilson has a player option for next season, which I’d expect him to opt-in to. I think the Nuggets would do well to embrace Chandler and stop acting like they need to get rid of him every time trade scenarios pop up.  Again, it speaks to that win-now culture that ruins so many sports franchises.  Wilson is a perfect bridge to the time when the Nuggets will be competing for championships.
