Denver Nuggets at Philadelphia 76ers: Match up to watch

DENVER, CO - DECEMBER 30: Wilson Chandler
DENVER, CO - DECEMBER 30: Wilson Chandler

The Denver Nuggets will battle the Philadelphia 76ers and Wilson Chandler is going to have his hands full with Ben Simmons.

The Denver Nuggets’ Wilson Chandler has had an interesting season to say the least. After a rather disappointing start to the regular season, he has looked more like “Ill Will,” since the All Star break.

However, he is going to be tested against the potential Rookie of the Year in Ben Simmons. The last time these two players squared off, Chandler struggled mightily on the offensive end, but was key defensively. In the last game, Chandler was at least able to hold Simmons below double figures scoring wise, a feat which has been difficult to duplicate, let alone accomplish this season.

However, Chandler has looked re-vamped since the All Star break as alluded to earlier. As a result, Simmons cannot overlook this seasoned veteran.

Chandler has lasted this long in this league for a reason. He may not be a super star, but he is one of the most versatile players in the whole NBA and Simmons would be a fool to think he could come into this match up expecting an easy 20 point game. Sure, Simmons may drop 20 points, but with the way Chandler has currently been playing, he is going to have to work every single point.

Wilson Chandler may be the X factor in this match up for the Nuggets. He will have to be ready to step up and hit key shots when he has open looks. If he can do this at a successful clip, then it will really open things up for Denver’s offensive scheme.

Do not be surprised if the team gets the versatile small forward involved on both ends early in the game.
