The Headliners

The trio of Paul Millsap, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray played phenomenally in last night’s game. They combined for 88 points, 17 assists and 28 rebounds. That sort of production from three of your typical starters (Gary Harris and Wilson Chandler sat out due to injury) is the recipe for consistent victory!

Paul Millsap has been playing like the Eastern Conference All-Star we signed this off-season.

His mid-range game is as deadly as it has ever been, and his defensive principles have made an instant impact on other side of the ball.

There are still a few tough turnovers due to his weaker left hand, but that is to be expected coming back from his injury so quickly!

Millsap will need to continue playing like an all-star over the final two weeks if the Nuggets want a postseason berth!

Nikola Jokic has been playing out of his mind in 2018! He has become one of the most efficient shooters in the game, and his passing abilities push his efficiency rating over the top.

He has become the sole leader of the squad, and it has become quite noticeable from a fan’s perspective.

The game stalls a bit once Jokic takes a breather, so Jokic will either need to light a fire under the supporting cast, or be able to play 40 – 44 minutes a game!

Jamal Murray stole the show in the final minute and very well kept Denver’s playoff hopes alive!

Already having a solid game, Murray stepped in front of Jason Terry and drew three free throws to send the game to overtime.

I will agree, I think Murray kicked his leg out, but frankly, the Nuggets have been on the opposite ends of so many game changing calls, we were due for one to go our way. (Anyone remember the Memphis game were they gave Memphis the ball with a quarter of second for the game winning tip even though the replay clearly showed it was Denver’s ball???)

Grades:

Millsap – A

Jokic – A

Murray – A (A+ during the last five seconds)
