The Denver Nuggets lead the the Los Angeles Clippers at the half in a game with major playoff implications.
The Denver Nuggets came out and had a very efficient offensive first half. The result? A 66-58 lead so far. The Clippers continue to hang around though.
Every time it looks as if Denver is going to run away with the game, the Clippers find a way to get back in the game with momentum shifting plays. Guys like Wallace and the Doc Rivers’ son, Austin, have been crucial in terms of smart, hustle plays which have kept the Denver defense on their heels.
Nikola Jokic is playing much more efficient than he did in the first half against the Timberwolves the other night. He has four assists, seven rebounds and an efficient 15 points so far to lead the way for the Nuggets along with Will Barton’s 16 points.
Devin Harris is coming big again like he did the other night and Mason Plumlee was key until he got into foul trouble.
The defense has been up and down so far. They will have a great play which results in a transition opportunity on the offensive end of the floor, but then make a key mental mistake the next time down. The Clippers are still hanging around, despite an overall solid performance from the streaking Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets look good so far, but they cannot get complacent. Do not forget, the last time these two played, Denver squandered an 18 point lead which was a major blow to Denver’s post season hopes. However, the Nuggets want to return the favor.
