Gary Harris has became a staple in the Denver Nuggets’ future and for good reason.
The Denver Nuggets took a gamble all those summers ago when they traded their draft pick, Doug McDermott, for Gary Harris. Many forget Harris was actually picked by the Chicago Bulls before being traded to the Mile High.
What ensued was a forgettable rookie campaign. It looked as if the Nuggets front office had swung and missed on the Bulls trade. However, Harris starting drastically improving year in and year out and suddenly, he has became one of the most underrated two guards in the NBA.
He has been dubbed by many as Denver’s “Jimmy Butler,” and has solidified himself has the best two way player on the squad. Like Nikola Jokic, his prime is yet to come and he has not hit his ceiling yet.
My hot take on the Michigan State prodigy is this; He will become one of the elite shooting guards in the NBA next season. By elite, I am talking about the ranks of James Harden, Klay Thompson and C.J. McCollum. I believe this next year is the season he takes another step forward in his development and is finally regarded as a legitimate star in this league by every NBA fan.
He is already a star on the Denver Nuggets, but some peers aren’t quite ready to put him in the same realm as the elite perimeter players of today’s league. Next year, that narrative will change.
What a lot of people tend to overlook is his athleticism. It is easy to get caught up in the kid’s terrific work ethic from time to time. Not to mention, his focus to the small details of the game. However, one key trait which makes him so adept on the defensive end in his ability to contain the quick guards along with his anticipation of passes.
Another quality which will separate him from the average players next season.

Gary Harris has became one of the best feel good stories in Nuggets Nation. Next season, that story will be exposed to the rest of the league.
