The Denver Nuggets currently reside in the most competitive division in the NBA.
A couple weeks back, I wrote an article on how I believe the Denver Nuggets will win a title in the next five years. Well, for this piece, it is going to seem a little contradictory when you have to hear this week’s hot take.
It is going to sound a bit cynical, but bear with me. The Denver Nuggets will not be winning the Northwest division any time soon. Not with teams like the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder leading the way.
If there is one team who is in a bit of a trouble though, it is the Timberwolves with their cap situation. There is no way they will be able to afford both Jimmy Butler and Karl Anthony Towns forever.
However, I still believe the Nuggets will win a championship in the next five seasons. It won’t be as leaders of the division though. The Nuggets will be major underdogs when it happens. I will go even further though.
Since this is a hot take, I will say if they end up winning more than one title in the foreseeable future, they won’t win the Northwest division in any of those seasons either.
The Portland Trail Blazers have established themselves as a terrific regular season with Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. Utah has uncovered a gem in Donovan Mitchell to pair with Rudy Gobert. Not to mention, the Thunder are going to be a force to be reckoned with as long as they possess Russell Westbrook.
Even the Timberwolves will be a challenge with Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony Towns.

It will be a challenge, but the Denver Nuggets will still have a ton of potential even if they don’t win a division title in the near future.
