The Denver Nuggets are in the midst of fine tuning their current squad. Their two guard, Gary Harris, will be a crucial instrument to their success next season.
The Denver Nuggets have solidified their starting shooting guard spot with the Michigan State sensation, Gary Harris. By now, every one knows the feel good story Harris has become with this Denver Nuggets organization.
He has seen his usage rate increase in the last couple of seasons and for good reason. This season, Gary averaged a career high 17.5 points per game to go along with a field goal percentage of 48.5%. When Harris scored 20 or more points this season, the team won more often than not.
What exactly does this tell us? Harris will need to be more aggressive and look for more shot opportunities. Also, if Harris can get back to scoring on more cuts to the basket to go along with his improved shooting, then this already tuned Denver Nuggets offense is going to be a nightmare for opponents.
Based on the past couple of seasons, Harris is on pace to average over 20 points per game this next year. His improvements are a great force for Denver to build around.
It is hard to find any flaws in Harris’ scoring game. He has become a great spot up shooter, improved on shooting off the dribble and has always been adept at cutting. He has the capability to go off for a 30 point game some nights and do it very efficiently.
The Nuggets need to encourage the young two guard to be a little bit more “selfish.” The more aggressive Harris, the better chances of success the Nuggets have.
