After a promising rookie season, the Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray had a solid sophomore campaign.
The Denver Nuggets have finally found their point guard of the future in Jamal Murray.
Jamal Murray made a transition from shooting guard to point guard this year and was surprisingly effective as the quarterback of this team. There were some growing pains here and there, but that is to be expected when a young player has to switch positions.
Jamal averaged a career high 16.7 points per game this season per basketball reference. It was not just his scoring prowess which caught the fans’ attention though. Jamal averaged one steal per game and also increased his assist percentage from 14% to 16.4%.
Granted, a point guard should be increasing his assists totals, but it is still a good sign for this growing Denver Nuggets squad. Jamal was once again the iron man for this team which has had their fair share of struggles of keeping their players healthy for the past two seasons now.
Paul Millsap went down for most of the year, Jokic was sidelined for a week and Gary Harris got hurt at the very end of the season. The one consistent staple through the successes and turmoil though: Jamal Murray.
Murray did miss his first ever NBA game this season though. However, this was due to a head injury and you could tell he was frustrated by not being out there. Murray truly has some in-human toughness.
Of course, we can’t forget the “beef,” which was created between Nuggets and Lakers fans. This was thanks to his antics against Lonzo Ball in the waning seconds of a win. If anything, he re-ignited the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Lakers Western Conference rivalry.
