The Denver Nuggets could try to land Joe Johnson in this summer’s free agency.

As alluded to before, the Denver Nuggets desperately need to find an answer for their lack of production at the small forward position.

One potential free agent who could elevate the team to the next level is Joe Johnson. Johnson may not be getting any younger, but has proven to be extremely clutch throughout his NBA career. Not to mention, he turns it up a notch come post season time.

Just the type of player the Nuggets need at the wing. A player with a ton of post season experience to help the young players and is talented enough to be effective playing off of Nikola Jokic from the perimeter. Plus, a player who is a little more skilled than Wilson Chandler.

How could the Nuggets land him though? For starters, they would have to clear off their books and figure out a way to pay Nikola Jokic. Then, have enough left over to give Johnson a tempting offer. A tall order, but not impossible.

Then, convince Johnson he could have more of a role here in the Mile High City compared to Houston where he has to be a part of the back ground for Chris Paul and James Harden. The chance of playing with a pass first center in Nikola Jokic should also get his attention.

Denver needs to find a solidified wing in order to help them get them over the hump for the next year. Only one game is what separated this team from an early summer and their first post season appearance in years.

Imagine if Wilson Chandler would have been more productive as Denver’s starting small forward in the most important game of the season.
