Trade #1:

In order to get Kyrie Irving, the Nuggets will have to give up a lot. Giving up Gary Harris would be a tough blow to a Nuggets team that needs help defensively, as Harris is one of the teams best defenders and can be matched up against a team’s best player.

He has steadily improved in each of his 4 NBA seasons, and has become a key cog in Denver’s rotation. Boston could use Harris as their starting shooting guard, while using Jaylen Brown off the bench.

Lyles has shown flashes of potential when he gets playing time. The problem is that when everyone is healthy, Lyles doesn’t have a place in Denver’s rotation. He would give the Celtics a young, valuable bench piece, and he could flourish with a bigger role.

The Nuggets would get back Irving, who would slot in at point guard while Jamal Murray would move to shooting guard, and power forward Marcus Morris.

Morris is widely considered a great defender, and would provide the Nuggets with a valuable bench presence who could even step in and start at small forward if needed. He is a chippy player, and goes to war for the team he plays for.

A starting lineup consisting of Irving, Murray, Wilson Chandler/Morris, Paul Millsap, and Nikola Jokic would be deadly.

They would score in bunches, as well as hold their own defensively. Giving up two first round picks hurts a lot, especially for what could be a one year rental, but to make a run at a championship, it could be well worth the risk.
