Trade #2:

In this deal, the Nuggets would be shipping third year point guard Jamal Murray to Boston. Murray is a young player who has shown improvements over his past two seasons, but there are still questions surrounding his ability to be a ball handling point guard.

The Celtics could re-sign both Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart to play point guard, while moving Murray to shooting guard, where he can be more of a scorer. Murray has oozed potential and shown a great many flashes of how great he can be, and maybe a position switch and Boston Head Coach Brad Stevens can unlock the rest of his potential.

The Celtics also get two other veteran role players in center Mason Plumlee and power forward Kenneth Faried. Both players would need to be included to make the money work in the deal.

Plumlee would be a good addition as a backup center for the Celtics, especially since their backup center Aaron Baynes is an impending free agent.

Faried has been a player who hasn’t seen a lot of playing time during the last two seasons, but can be a high energy rebounder when on the court, something the Celtics desperately need.

Giving up a first round pick again hurts, as Irving could decide to leave Denver after just one year. However, adding Irving would turn Denver into a championship caliber team.

He could very well be the missing piece, and would make Denver more competitive than they’ve been in a long time.
