The Denver Nuggets’ rebuild seems to be paying off and goes to show the fan base has been “trusting the process,” before it was made cool by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Denver Nuggets’ fans have been patiently waiting for years now. They have been waiting for a core of young talent to come in and bring this franchise back from the dumps and put them back within the talks to the NBA’s elite once again.

While the Nuggets did miss the post season, there was still massive progress. As a matter of fact, there are quite a bit of parallels between the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers. At least, in terms of the rebuilding phase.

Both teams have constructed the their talented core through the draft. Both have a franchise center and both have been investing in their future. Futures which seem to be paying off now for both franchises.

While the 76ers are a bit ahead in the success department, the Nuggets should almost be a lock to make the playoffs next year. Fans of the Nuggets have been “trusting the process,” just like the Philly fans. However, we were doing it when it was still frowned upon to be a young and rebuilding team.

We still remember the dark days of the Brian Shaw era and how there seemed to be no future for this organization. We remember thinking there was no way an All Star was ever going to come to the Mile High before we landed Paul Millsap.

While I have tremendous respect for the Philadelphia 76ers and what they have done to cash in with their assets, one cannot help but feel a little slighted with the media attention they have received while the Nuggets have been rebuilding in a similar fashion.

A process which has netted them a promising team who could compete in the Western Conference.
