Well Denver Nuggets fans, it looks like the Finals have already been won. That is thanks to DeMarcus Cousins going to the Golden State Warriors.

The Denver Nuggets came into this off season with high hopes of bettering their roster. They have, but it might have been all for nothing now.

DeMarcus Cousins has now accepted a one year deal worth only five million dollars to join the defending champions. He is currently recovering from an achilles injury. However, he is still too talented to be taking discount deals with a championship team who has four stars on their roster.

Should the Denver Nuggets even bother taking the court next year? Of course, I am exaggerating a bit, but Denver was looking very promising before this happened.

Even with LeBron going to the Lakers, the Nuggets were still better on paper than the Lakers. Then, the Warriors struck….again.

While Golden State was still a favorite to win the title next year, there were still teams who had the potential to upset them, in particular, the Houston Rockets. However, DeMarcus Cousins changed that narrative. He made the Warriors a 100% lock to take the NBA Finals for the third straight year.

It is going to be difficult to be excited for the upcoming Nuggets season since we know it will be a race for a consolation prize. Yes, Nikola Jokic is locked up for five more years. Yes, Will Barton is locked up for four more years and Wilson Chandler has been traded to free up some cap space.

However, it is hard to be excited for next year with DeMarcus Cousins being a cop out and deciding to ride the coat tails to an easy ring which will mean little to nothing.
