The Denver Nuggets saw their star player, Nikola Jokic, take significant strides once again this past season.

Whether it was on the defensive end or polishing up the offensive game, Denver Nuggets’ star, Nikola Jokic, had another improved season. However, for this article, I want to focus on one aspect I saw a great improvement upon.

That would be utilizing the glass on his mid range jump shots. This is what I mean when I say I saw some Tim Duncan within Nikola Jokic this past season.

Now, do not get me wrong, Jokic is in now way even close to being better than the great Tim Duncan yet. What I am saying is that this aspect of Jokic’s offensive game reminded of how effective of a scorer Duncan was throughout his legendary NBA career.

This helped the Joker add upon to his already deadly skill set and made him more of a nightmare for defenders on the offensive end of the floor. Not to mention, one could also make the argument for the bank shots opening up more open shot opportunities for his teammates.

We all know what happens the majority of the time when you are open and you are playing with the crafty Nikola Jokic.

The mid range bank shot from the angle was a staple throughout Tim Duncan’s career. The end result? How about five NBA titles and one of the most successful careers ever seen.

If Jokic can perfect this same type of craft, then the rest of the NBA better watch out. For all we know, if you add a defensive game to Nikola Jokic’s skill set, then we may have the second coming of Tim Duncan on our hands.

All I know is it was great to see Jokic embrace one of most fundamental and beautiful parts of scoring this past year. A shot Tim Duncan had perfected.
