Trade #3

As Darrell Arthur is on an expiring contract and is being paid almost half of what Faried and Plumlee are making, it should be easier to trade him.

I still expect the Nuggets to have to give up a few assets. However, Arthur can offer some guidance to young Hawks players, especially John Collins.

Collins struggled to hit the three-pointer his rookie year. Arthur, a 35.2% career three-point shooter from the PF position, could help him with his shot.

Arthur likely wouldn’t play in this situation, and would actually probably get bought out.

In that scenario, the Hawks still have one to two 2nd round picks for a chunk of cap space they really couldn’t have signed anyone with anyway, as they are not an attractive free agent destination right now.

This trade and the Kenneth Faried trade would not work in tandem, as the Hawks wouldn’t have enough cap room.

However, if you altered the trades to include some salary coming back Denver’s way, the Nuggets could ship Arthur and Faried to Atlanta at the same time.

That would be enough to get them under the luxury tax.
