The Denver Nuggets have a gem on their hands in Jamal Murray.
Jamal Murray showed some great improvement in his second year in the league. What is even more surprising is this came after he shifted positions.
As we all know, Murray was moved from his natural two guard spot to the starting point guard position last year. According to basketball reference, Murray upped his scoring average from 9.9 points per game all the way up 16.7 points per game.
Not to mention, Murray also averaged an effective field goal percentage of 52.9% along with a three point percentage of 37.8%. Murray also possessed an offensive rating of 112 which was increased from 103 from his rookie season.
Murray showed great poise last season and was able to run the offense effectively. On top of that, it seemed like he could get his shot whenever he wanted whether it was driving to the basket, pulling off the dribble for a mid range jumper or hitting the long distance bomb.
He has developed a killer instinct and has a tough minded and gritty mind set. A great mind set as he continues develop and refine his game. Murray has also shown a great work ethic which will go a long way toward helping him improve his game.
Murray has the tools to be a great point guard in today’s NBA. His skill set is comparable to a young Steph Curry which is an extremely promising sign. Jamal Murray is not afraid of anyone in the league and he proved that last year.
Do not believe me, Just ask the Los Angeles Lakers fans about his incident with Lonzo Ball last season and how he did not care about his name.
