With the Denver Nuggets bringing in a former MVP candidate, they are one step closer to forming a super team.

The Denver Nuggets have closed a deal to bring in Isaiah Thomas. They got him on a veteran minimum one year two million dollar deal.

While he had a down season last year, one cannot forget the year before when he was an MVP candidate and was the Boston Celtics’ best player on the roster that particular season. This deal is pretty much a prove it deal. The Nuggets got a bargain on someone who could be a third wheel in a potential big three for the Denver Nuggets.

Denver already has Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap. Now, they are bringing in Isaiah Thomas. If they can get the Boston version of Thomas, then they will finally have a big three which will bring them one step closer to forming their own super team to compete with the Golden State Warriors.

If the team can find a way to bring in another All Star to create a team with four stars, then the Golden State Warriors will have some competition on their hands in the Western Conference. They now have a lot more cap space to pursue a quality free agent next summer. Especially, after they traded Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur to the Brooklyn Nets in a salary dump.

If they are feeling really ambitious, they could try to pull off something this off season. However, their best bet would be to wait until the next free agency class which will be loaded with talent. The Nuggets have something special brewing in the Mile High and Tim Connelly deserves a ton of credit for the squad he has assembled.
